George Braggooner Sr. (Possibly the son of George Braconnier), married Anna Eve (maiden name unknown by this author) about 1750 in Hanover, Germany. Anna Eve spelled her married name Brakonier later in life even though her husband proudly spelled it Braggooner. George was listed on the Militia Roster Berkley County, (West) Virginia. George was born in Hanover Germany. George & his wife Anna were living in Hanover, Germany when John Nicholas Peckoner Sr. came to America in 1740. George is the only Bragonier listed in the first U.S. Census of the United States in 1790. He was listed in Washington County Maryland as head of a family consisting of four (4) white males of 16 years & upwards, including heads of families & three white females including heads of families. No family male members were listed under 16 years of age. In the second Census of the U.S. 1800 in Washington County Maryland, there are two (2) George Bragooniers, three (3) Jacobs and one (1) David, as heads of Bragoonier families. As per the Clerk of the Circuit Court, Hagerstown Maryland, who wrote in 1897, "I find that George Bragonier made a deed to George & Henry Bragonier in 1801. His name was spelled Bragonier on the deed. We have no records of patents, these are just deeds that were recorded in the Land Office at Annapolis, Maryland." Mrs. Philip S. Marden, living in Lowell, Massachusetts has a record of a patent to George Bragunier for 140 acres called "Putnam's Defeat" recorded June 17, 1790. A record of a boy that is likely to be George's son is found in Brumbaugh's Maryland Records Colonial Rev. Co. Vol. II page 523, published in 1928, namely George Bragonier Jr. & Margaret Otto, married Jan 27, 1795 in the German Reform Church in Elizabethtown (Hagerstown) Maryland. See page 75-76 G. Randall.
