In the book "History of Champaign County Ohio" page 468, an article written about John Charles Bragunier (grandson of Abraham) says that Abraham came to Indiana in 1835 with his family from Warren Twp., Franklin Co., Pennsylvania. One of my sources for Abraham, is Pat Borke, who acquired a copy of Abraham's will on September 1992 that was dated Dec 21, 1858. The will lists Abraham's wife Elizabeth and the following children: Martin, Isaac, Samuel and John J. Abraham's son Samuel was executor of his will. Pat Borke is trying to get Samuel's death certificate from the Troy Ohio records. A copy of Abraham’s father’s will, estate No. 1829 Testator, Bragonia Jacob, Book "C" page 587, date probated 1822, was given to Abraham's mother Elizabeth.
There were no Braguniers listed in the 1830 Indiana Census. However in the 1830 Peters Twp. Franklin County Pennsylvania Census, shows an Abraham Bragunier and 2 males under 5 years of age, one male 20-30, two females 20-30 (his wife Liz and his sister), also his mother Elizabeth age about 55.
The 1840 Indiana Census lists a Braggenier, Abraham in Carroll Co. #833. There was no listing for Abraham Bragonier in the 1850 Carroll County Indiana census. However the 1850 Carroll County census does list a Bragunier, Abraham in the 9th district. Jacob Bragonier Sr.'s bible lists Abraham’s death as 1859. Abraham's will was dated 21 December 1858 & probated 8 January 1859.
Administrator of Abraham’s father-in-law's estate was Martin Winger prior to 1835. Abraham bought land in Carroll county Indiana deeded (C:559) on April 14, 1838. The west half of the southwest fourth of Section 22 in Twp. 25 north, range 2 west, 80 acres, purchased from John Clay. In the 1830 Census Abraham was living in Peters Twp. Franklin County Pennsylvania. See page 82- 83 of G. Randall's book.
In Brittain Bragunier Robinson's book page 50 he only listed Jacob as having a son named Abraham, with no family history for Abraham’s family. There is however a listing for a man named Brooner, Abraham in Gibson County Indiana with 2 males 10 to 15 yrs old, 1 male over 45, one female under 10, 1 female 10 to 15, 1 female 16 to 25, and 1 female over 45; also a Brooner, Frederick page 251 in Gibson County Indiana with 1 male over 45, 1 female under 10 and 1 female 16 to 25.
The Brooner name was mentioned just in case they may be connected to Abraham's family.
