In our saga of DNA to prove blood lines, I directed my efforts to the Bragonier side of our family tree! Correspondence with Wendell Hughell Bragonier (up until his untimely death in January 2000) was very fruitful; now his son John Robert (Bob) Bragonier has picked up the torch from his father and has continually kept in contact with me since 2000.
Below is how "Bob" Bragonier and I are related per the facts as we have our data compiled, with the common grandparent being Pierre Bracounier (born 1630) in Montauban, France. Per this chart Bob Bragonier and I are 7th cousins (Civil: XVI Canon: 8)
As I see the nomenclature of DNA ... in order to prove that John Robert (Bob) Bragonier and I (David C. Procuniar) are true blood related is to take the FamilyTreeDNA 25 marker DNA test. I will need to look into the 25-marker vs the 67-marker to see which will produce the results needed to prove or disprove Bob's and my blood lineage.
